Big Stone County GIS
The Geographic Information System (GIS) is back and better than ever. Thanks to the Blandin Foundation for providing us a grant opportunity to finish our GIS project and make it available to the public.
We are offering a free public version & a subscription service for advanced searches and imagery. Visit our GIS home page for information and links to the service sites.
What is GIS?
GIS is an accronym for Geographic Information System. Essentially GIS is an interactive map allowing you to use a web browser to view detailed information within a defined area.
Anyone can use our Public Access GIS web site to view basic information within Big Stone County, including tax information, satellite imaging, property boundaries, and more.
Subscription Service
Our GIS Subscription service offers access to more detailed reports, improved search functions, and oblique Pictometry images.
Big Stone County charges $250 per year for access. Subscription request form: BSCGISRequest.pdf
Static Shapefile Requests
We will provide a static shape file of all tax parcels within Big Stone County. We charge a one time fee for this information, depending on the detail you are requesting.
At this time, we do not provide custom shape files. All shape files we provide include the entire county.
- Shapefile with PIN data only - $100
- Shapefile with PIN & Tax data - $150
- Shapefile with PIN, Tax data, & Pictometry - $300
Fees for Special Data Requests
If you are requesting property tax data in spreadsheet format, the fees are as follows:
- $90 base fee, which includes one hour of staff time
- $90 per additional hour
- $0.05 per parcel. There are approximately 7200 tax parcels
Fees for printed pages or maps:
- $0.25 per page ($0.50 for two sided) for legal or letter sized pages or maps
