Part Time Deputy Sheriff
Big Stone County is seeking applicants to fill a part-time Deputy Sheriff position. The Deputy Sheriff is responsible for the impartial enforcement of all federal, state and local laws and ordinances; working proactively in the community to prevent criminal activity and traffic enforcement. Responds to motor vehicle crashes, disturbances and emergencies in order to preserve peace and protect lives and property. Applicant must be POST Board eligible or licensed by the POST Board. Must possess a valid Class D driver’s license. This is a part-time position which will include working rotating shifts. Working holidays and weekends will be required. Applicant must be available for up to 30 hours a week.

Online Absentee Ballot Request
The Office of the Minnesota Secretary of State today announced a new online voter tool available at mnvotes.org — "Request Absentee Ballot." The service allows voters to apply for an absentee ballot quickly and easily without the need to print, scan forms, and return by mail, fax or email.
New Courthouse Hours
Beginning May 5th, 2014, the Big Stone County courthouse offices will be open from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday, unless otherwise posted for a holiday.

Big Stone County Surplus items
Big Stone County surplus items are available for purchase to the general public. Items for sale may include all types of office furniture, tables, chairs, desks, file cabinets, office equipment, machines and supplies, typewriters, calculators, computers, printers, and many other miscellaneous items.
Items are available on a first-come, first-served basis, as-is, with no warranty. Returns are not allowed. Items are not considered "sold" until payment is received by the Auditor’s Office. All items must be removed at the time of sale. Payment must be made at the time of purchase and must be in the form of cash or money order payable to "Big Stone County". No checks will be accepted.
As items become available, they will be placed on the Surplus Items list. When an item is sold and paid for, it will be removed from the list.

The Big Stone County Treasurer’s Office is pleased to announce that we now are accepting passport applications on behalf of the U.S. Department of State.
